BOURNEMOUTH has recorded the “coldest morning of the autumn so far”, with temperatures plummeting to -5 degrees overnight.

Clear skies overnight, widespread frost and cold winds have led to most of us waking us to the chilliest morning since February.

Although temperatures will rise to 12 degrees tomorrow, the cold will return for the first few days of December with temperatures likely to dip below freezing once again on Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Temperatures are then expected to stay low for the rest of the week, with the mercury unlikely to increase to double figures until after the weekend.

Commuters are urged to drive with caution this morning with ice and frost likely on rural roads.

Local weather enthusiast, Bournemouth & Poole Weather said: “Brrr it’s the coldest morning of autumn so far, -5 degrees at the airport.

“It’ll take a few hours to get that above freezing but will lead into a fine but chilly day.

“Sunny spells and patchy cloud with max temperatures of five to six degrees.”
