Police are investigating after 50 garages were broken into during Storm Arwen.

Officers say around the offences took place in the Chantry Close area of Christchurch in the early hours of Saturday morning.

In a post on their Facebook page, a spokesperson for Christchurch Police said: "PCSOs Sarah and Anna have spoken to a number of residents in the Chantry Close area due to a garage crime series where approximately 50 garages were broken into.

"This occurred in the early hours of the morning on Saturday November 27.

"Please report any suspicious activity and information about this through our Dorset Police website. #6093 #5331 #OnTheBeatDorset #christchurchpolice"

One resident said their garage had a triple lock and an alarm which set off their phone, but by the time they ran out in their pyjamas the thieves had gone.

Another has lost expensive fishing equipment.
