WE ARE currently in the midst of a cold snap, with temperatures dropping to near freezing and Storm Arwen about to batter our coast.

With a myriad of weather forecast for the weekend, including a yellow weather warning for strong wind, we could now even expect falling snow as temperatures continue to plummet.

Weather enthusiast Dorset Snow has released their ‘Wintry Watch’ forecast for the weekend, with falling snow and sleet on Friday evening and Saturday morning.

As Storm Arwen hits out shores, winds of up to 60MPH have been forecast, which Dorset snow says will provide ‘horrific wind chill.

Discussing Friday’s weather, November 26, Dorset Snow said: “Scattered rain showers will push through from the north this evening and these could turn wintry (mix of hail, sleet and snow) over high ground in yellow shaded areas.

“No accumulations are expected.”

Looking at Saturday, a small dusting of snow can be expected on high ground in the county.

Dorset Snow said: “There is a chance of a more organised band of rain, sleet and snow moving across eastern areas during tomorrow morning. Timings and strength of precipitation has no agreement from models, but a small dusting is possible across high ground.

“Parameters for falling snow will tend to become more favourable as the day progresses and almost anywhere in the yellow shading could see some wet falling snow for a time.”

The temperature on Saturday is 2-5C but Dorset Snow said this will feel more like -5 in strong gusts of wind.
