On a chilly night in Boscombe the second best thing to come out of Lowestoft after the A146 treated us to a fun and vibrant show to promote their latest and 8th album Motorheart.

As always, The Darkness and front man Justin Hawkins gave us a full stadium show with all the whistles and bells that we have come to expect.

We were treated to over 90 minutes of of an 18 song play list combining music from their aforementioned new album, Motorheart, with a pleasing smattering of the best loved tunes from Permission to Land and One way Ticket to Hell with only a nod to their other studio albums.

Welcome Tae Glasgea opened the set followed swiftly on by One Way Ticket to Hell which roused the crowd into a suitably bouncy and vocal state for the rest of the evening.

The highlights for me were the renditions of Dancing on a Friday Night, I Believe in a Thing Called Love, the title song Motorheart and if you were there to the end, an impassioned offering of Dont Let The Bells End with the whole band suitably dressed in what can only be described as the office Christmas party bad jumper day taken to a new level.

JH donned his Lycra navel exposing Santa jump suit, Rufus on drums wearing a full Christmas tree outfit, how he saw the drum kit is a mystery to me, and Frankie on bass dressed as a chicken wearing a pink bra.

From last night's performance, The Darkness are well and truly back with the energy and material to rival their first 2003 album Permission to Land. They show no sign of slowing down or turning the volume down.

Great show, keep rockin.
