A CARE home in Swanage has been awarded an improved ‘Good’ rating following an unannounced quality inspection.

Gainsborough Care Home in Ulwell Road, which provides residential and dementia care for over 65s, was given a ‘Requires Improvement’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in October 2020.

The home has moved to ‘Good’ based on inspection findings and after gathering feedback from authorities, staff, residents and their relatives.

The CQC inspection, which came without warning, was carried out by an inspector and an ‘expert by experience’ on October 15, 2021.

Inspectors found that people felt safe and happy living at Gainsborough Care Home and that it enjoyed a friendly, person-centred and open culture.

Registered manager Louise Van Dorn said: “I’m very proud of the team, the ‘Good’ rating is a testament to their hard work and the incredible community that we, our residents and their loved ones have built together at Gainsborough Care Home.

“I’m particularly pleased with the positive comments from residents and their families about how they feel about our home, because supporting them with high quality care is ultimately what we are here for.”

Gainsborough Care Home is run by Dorset-based independent care provider Agincare, which celebrates its 35th anniversary this year.
