A FORMER secondary school teacher turned entrepreneur is to host a mental health community event for young people and parents.

Nicole Bateman is the founder of A Box Full of Joy, a letterbox gift business for children who struggle emotionally to increase their sense of worth, communication and confidence. It is described as ideal for sensitive or anxious children and those with conditions such as epilepsy, ADHD, autism and more.

The mother of two is running a community event at Nan’s Place in Moordown on Wednesday, November 24 at 7.30pm with talks from a mental health nurse, a teen therapist and herself.

Nicole said: “This is the first event of many and my vision is to provide early support and equip parents with tools to implement to support their children through this turbulent time we are currently in.

“Whilst teaching during the pandemic I saw first-hand the impact of the remote learning and isolation on the mental health of my students therefore my company now works in partnership with parents and schools to provide practical strategies to support young people.”
