Meet this week's four-legged friends who are all looking for their forever homes.

If you are considering bringing a new pet into your home, adopting a dog from a rescue centre will give them them a second chance at having a happy life.

All of these tail-waggers are currently in the care of Minimutts Dog Rescue foster carers. More information about the dogs and how they can be adopted can be found on their website.

George

Bournemouth Echo:
Breed: Bulldog
Age: Two years
George loves everybody and adores children in particular, but he is a clumsy great oaf and has absolutely no idea how heavy he is! He’s a tank who sees no reason why he should go around when he can go straight through!  For this reason it's recommended only older children in his new home – George would knock little ones down like skittles!
He loves cuddles and enjoys his walks, whatever the weather so if you dont like walking in the rain this is not the lad for you.
George can live with other dogs, but a lot of dogs dont like him – they struggle to read him, and because he is so clumsy they are wary of him.  Doggy introductions will need to take place with care. He is not cat tested, so we will not be considered for a home with cats.

Stanley

Bournemouth Echo:
Breed: Dogue de Bordeaux x Mastiff
Age: Nine years
Stanley is a really lovely boy; he’s a little wary of strangers on first meeting but soon warms to people.
He’s fit and active, and loves his walks.  He gets on well with his doggy pals in foster, but he can be full on, so gentle introductions to any existing dogs will be needed.
He is gentle and can live with sensible children although older ones would be preferred due to his size and bounce.
He is strong on lead and needs to be walked on a halti – applicants will need to be able to handle him.  Stanley has not been cat tested and therefore will not be rehomed somewhere with cats.
Stanley arrived with a chronic longstanding yeast infections in both ears.  His ear canals are open and it looks as though no permanent damage has been done, but its likely this will be an ongoing condition. He also has a lump inside his mouth that will have removed before he leaves us, as its quite sore.  It will need to be monitored going forward.
Stanley is looking for a home with large breed experience that can give him a full life in his twilight years.

Baxter

Bournemouth Echo:
Breed: Shih Tzu cross
Age: approximately four

Baxter is a little dog with a big personality and he’s a natural comic who will have you laughing all day at his antics – he also loves to watch tv with you.
Baxter arrived with trust issues – he was fearful of strangers, and would growl and snap if a stranger tried to handle him.  This included visitors to the home.
He has come on in leaps and bounds and is much more trusting, but allowance must be made that he may revert initially in his new home.
There is a very easy protocol to deal with this which will be explained to potential adopters.
Baxter is very good in the home, and he loves to play with other dogs – he would love a doggy friend in his new home but its not essential. He cant live with cats or other small animals.
Baxter will need a home with people who understand fearful dogs and wont force him beyond his comfort zone.  He’ll need his future adopter to meet him a couple of times in his foster home so that he can get to know them.  He loves children, but because of his trust issues and bite history, he will not be rehomed where there are children.
