A MAN was punched in the face twice as he walked with his young child in a pushchair in an “unprovoked assault” in Poole.

The victim, who is aged in his 30s, was walking his child and dog in Princess Road at the junction of Silver Birch Close at 7.45pm on Thursday, October 21, when a man approached him from behind.

It is reported that the man overtook the victim, before punching him twice to the face and walking away in the direction of Branksome.

The victim sustained injuries to his eye and mouth.

Police say the offender is described as white, possibly of Polish or Romanian descent, approximately six feet tall, of stocky build with short shaved dark hair and stubble.

He was wearing a white short-sleeved T-shirt with a dark-coloured tribal pattern on the top and down one side and dark-coloured jeans.

Police Community Support Investigator Dan Cammell, of Poole police, said: “This was an unprovoked assault and I am carrying out enquiries to identify the man responsible.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened to please come forward.

“I am also particularly keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the offender from the description given.”
