ROAD users have been warned of a slip road closure on the A31 for more than two months ahead of a major construction project.

The slip road used by vehicles to join the eastbound A31 at Verwood will be closed from 8pm on October 29 for up to 10 weeks..

This is required to provide a safe working area while National Highways contractors prepare the road for road widening scheme on the dual carriageway just west of Ringwood, which is due to start in January next year.

A signed diversion will be in place during the closure. Traffic wishing to join the eastbound A31 should use the westbound A31 and the Ashley Heath roundabout to access the eastbound carriageway.

The slip road used by vehicles joining the westbound A31 at Ringwood will also be closed from November 15, 2021,  until November 30, 2022.

A signed diversion will be in place during this time and traffic will be diverted via the A31 to the next junction at Poulner Hill where it will go over the A31 and back on to the eastbound A31.

Congestion is expected, so drivers are advised to plan ahead and leave extra time for their journeys.
