THE inquest opened into the death of the pedestrian killed in the lorry crash in Ferndown.
Ernest Albert Gunton, 95, of New Road, Ferndown, died after he was involved in a crash with a white artic lorry in Ringwood Road at around 5.30pm on Tuesday, October 5.
Coroner’s office Ken McEwan told the inquest Mr Gunton, a retired aircraft engineer, was walking across the road when he was involved in the incident.
He said: “He was attended to by paramedics at the scene and taken to Southampton General Hospital.
“His injuries were not survivable and he passed away in the early hours of October 7 at Southampton Hospital.
“Police confirmed no suspicious circumstances and they are continuing the investigation into the incident.”
A post mortem found his medical cause of death to be multiple injuries due to a crash.
Area coroner for Dorset Brendan Allen adjourned the inquest until January 14, 2022.
