A NEW event in Poole that features a "spectacular" floating candle display will remember and celebrate loved ones.

'Candles on the Lake', organised by Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, features music from local musicians, the candle display and a reflective reading to remember loved ones.

The charity is hopeful that the event, which takes place on Saturday, October 16 in Poole Park, will become an annual event.

Area Fundraiser, Vicki Gray said: "It will be a memorable and meaningful celebration where families and friends can come together to reflect and remember loved ones, as well as seeing a beautiful display of lights to represent all of the incredible people in our community.

"This poignant and special event will start with a reflective walk around the boating lake, followed by music from local choirs and a short reading.

"Lewis-Manning volunteers will then float the candles onto the lake for the magical display of lights."

The event is free for all to join and you can make an online donation for a candle before the event.

Candles will also be available on the night, and facilities to write your own personal dedication will be available.

Vicki said: "Donations will be used to fund our Bereavement and Family Support as well as other vital services, allowing us to give invaluable support to patients and their families from diagnosis of a life-limiting condition, through to end of life and bereavement.

"We are asking people to make a suggested donation of £5 per candle and people can buy as many as they like. If three people donated this amount it could cover the cost of a one-hour telephone call or visit, providing support to a grieving family."
