THREE arrests were made after two fights broke out in Bournemouth in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Witnesses reported seeing a large police presence in Old Christchurch Road and three people have now been arrested, two on suspicion of inflicted grievous bodily harm.

Firstly, a man sustained “a small puncture wound” in a fight which saw two people arrested.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Dorset Police received a report at around 2.30am on Sunday, September 19, of a fight in Old Christchurch Road in Bournemouth.

“One man sustained a small puncture wound to his shoulder and abdomen. The injuries are not believed to be serious.

“A 23-year-old man from Bournemouth has been charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence and is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Frida, October 8.

“A 21-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and affray. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.”

Secondly, Dorset Police received a report at around 3.15am on Sunday, September 19 of a fight near to London Market on Old Christchurch Road in Bournemouth.

One man was taken to hospital as a result of the fight.

A spokesperson for the force said: “The victim – a local man aged in his 40s – was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not life-threatening.

“A full investigation is underway and a 23-year-old man from Slough was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

“He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.”
