A MAN touched a woman he walked past in the street inappropriately over her clothing in Bournemouth.

Police are investigating the incident, which occurred at around 8.20pm on Wednesday, September 15, and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A woman aged in her 30s was walking along Linwood Road toward Maxwell Road when she noticed a man walking in the opposite direction.

As he approached her, the man touched her inappropriately over her clothing before making off toward Fitzharris Avenue.

The man is described as white and around five feet seven inches tall with brown medium-length wavy hair.

He was wearing a dark-coloured zipped up hooded top with the hood down, light-coloured jeans and sports shoes.

Police constable Elliot Penn, of Bournemouth police, said: “This was understandably a distressing incident for the victim and we are carrying out a number of enquiries to try and identify the man responsible.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the sexual assault or any suspicious activity in the area on the evening of Wednesday, September 15, to please contact us.

“I am particularly keen to speak to a man in a blue football shirt who stopped to check if the victim was all right.

“I would also urge residents with home CCTV or anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything of relevance.”
