POLICE have arrested a man in Bournemouth accused of assaulting and racially abusing paramedics yesterday afternoon.
Officers were called to assist the ambulance service after a 25-year-old man from Blandford reportedly lashed out at a member of staff during an incident near Holdenhurst Road on September 19.
The man – who was detained on suspicion of assault and a racially aggravated public order offence – has been released under investigation.
A police spokesman said: “Dorset Police received a report at 2.27pm on Sunday September 19 from the ambulance service requesting assistance after staff were reportedly assaulted by a man in the area of the Station Roundabout in Bournemouth.
“It was also reported that the man had racially abused one of the paramedics.
“Officers attended and a 25-year-old Blandford man was arrested on suspicion of assault and a racially aggravated public order offence.
“He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries by officers.”
