PLANS have been submitted for the erection of a six-storey block of flats in Bournemouth.

Ashdrew Ltd have applied for permission to demolish the existing building at 3 Wootton Mount and replace it with a block of 25 flats.

Permission originally was granted in 2019 for a block of 36 flats on the site.

A statement issued with the new application said: “The position of the proposed building accords with the extant permission of which authorised the development of the site to provide the erection of a six-storey building accommodating 34 flats with associated car parking for eight flats. The height and scale of the proposed flatted development shall accord with the extant approved scheme.

“The width of the proposed building shall be like the extant approval but repositioned slightly to the east, thereby to relieve the relationship to 7 Wootton Mount. The proposed scheme shall have no additional impact to the flatted block known as The Statum than the extant approval.

“The room allocation within the building has been throughout by the architect and will adequately meet the needs of the occupiers without comprising the amenities of adjacent neighbours.

“Habitable rooms such as bedrooms, lounge, and dining areas will benefit from large areas of glazing whereas secondary rooms, such as bathrooms, utility areas have been positioned towards the core of the built form as natural light is restricted but unnecessary due to the use of the rooms themselves.

“The scheme is bold and contemporary like the extant approval however will positively contribute to the character and appearance of the area. The building shall have an exterior of light brickwork."
