A NUMBER of road closures and diversions will be in place ahead of two festivals taking place on the same weekend in Dorset

The Ironman bike course and Tankfest festivals are to take place in Weymouth and Bovington respectively on Sunday, September 19 and Dorset Council has urged visitors to plan their routes “carefully”.

The authority said: “If you’re heading to The Tank Museum for TANKFEST on Sunday and are travelling from west of Wool please plan your route carefully.

“There are some road closures in place for the IRONMAN Weymouth bike course throughout the morning and over lunchtime.”

The main roads A37, A356, A35, A354 and Rye Hill/Tout Hill remain open, as will the A352 between Sherborne and Dorchester.

The A352 from Dorchester to Warmwell Cross Roundabout has some restrictions.

Some road closures will be in place from as early as 4am, with any remaining road closures expected to be lifted at around 2pm.

  • Westleaze closed from 8.30am - 1.30pm
  • A352 closed 8.30am - 1.30pm
  • Chalky Road closed 8.30am - 1.45pm
  • Littlemoor Road closed eastbound 6.30am - 1.45pm
  • B3155 closed 6.30am - 2pm
  • B3155 (Greenhill) closed 4am - 6pm
  • A353 closed 6.30am - 10.15am
  • B3390 closed 7am - 10.30am
  • Warmwell Road closed 7am - 10.30am
  • Redbridge Road closed 7am - 10.45am
  • Pallington Lakes Road and Ilsington Road closed 7am - 11am
  • Rhododendron mile and Two Droves closed 7.30 - 11.15am
