THE coastguard was called to help extract a woman from a boat in Poole.
Southbourne Coastguard was called with the Poole Coastguard Rescue Team shortly after 2pm on Monday.
A spokesperson said: “Tasked at 1412 hours by the joint rescue coordination centre along with Poole Coastguard Rescue Team to Poole Quay to help extract a female casualty from a vessel.
“Due to the incident Swanage Lifeboat Station brought the vessel to Poole Quay to extract the casualty to the waiting South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust ambulance as the vessel was too large to dock at Swanage.
“Once the casualty was in the safe hands of the paramedics we stood down and returned to station.”
Swanage RNLI Lifeboat Station was also called to the incident.
A spokesperson said: "A 68’ sail training vessel had departed Poole for onward passage.
"They had rounded Old Harry heading south and setting sail in a fresh easterly wind when a crewmember fell on the foredeck, landing heavily on metal fittings.
"The crewmember managed to make their way back to the cockpit but was clearly injured and in need of help.
"One crew provided casualty care to the injured sailor while equipment including entonox pain-relieving gas was passed from the lifeboat.
"The casualty assessment suggested there was no need for emergency evacuation, so the most comfortable option was to motor the yacht back into Poole Harbour while the casualty was closely monitored by the lifeboat crew and entonox was administered.
"A berth was arranged in Poole Town Quay marina and, when the yacht had been safely secured, ambulance paramedics boarded to take over care of the injured crew."
