A HOTEL in Bournemouth formally crowned the best eco hotel in the UK is on the market for nearly £3million.

The award-winning Green House Hotel, in Grove Road, has been listed by Savills for £2.9million.

The current owners bought the hotel in 2007 when it was the three-star Gresham Court and transformed it into the award winning four-star eco hotel it is now.

The Green House attracts both corporate and leisure guests and was recently listed by Expedia as one of the top ten eco hotels in the world, the only one in the UK to make the list.

It has won countless awards for its hospitality, environmental performance and Arbor Restaurant which attracts local foodies and hotel guests in equal measure.

Christopher Airey, managing director of Diversity Travel, said: “We have held the hotel now for 14 years, and its performance is as strong as ever.

“Occupancy has been close to 100 per cent throughout the summer and we feel now is the right time to hand the reins over to someone new to take it forward.

“We have a fantastic, committed team at the hotel who are looking forward to being part of the next stage of the Green House’s journey.”

The hotel boasts 32 recently refurbished en suite rooms and a restaurant with capacity for 50 covers.

Savills also say its conference facilities were popular with capacity for 80 in the main conference room.

James Greenslade, director in the hotel capital markets team at Savills, said: “Bournemouth is an extremely popular seaside destination, ideally located to capture the strong staycation demand that we are currently seeing.

“Given the quality and location of the Green House alongside its excellent eco credentials, we expect strong interest in the property.”

As well as being named in Expedia’s top ten eco-friendly hotels in 2019, and being the UK’s top eco hotel, the Green House also boasts two AA Rosettes, it was a regional finalist in the 2018 wedding awards, named the Conde Nast Best Green Hotel in 2017 and in 2017 won the silver award as the best south west boutique hotel of the year.
