THE Sandford pub on the outskirts of Wareham is asking to extend to offer more space for diners.
An application to Dorset Council asks to demolish a rear conservatory and build a rear and side extension with brick and tiles to match the existing building.
It says that the changes will add about 50 square metres to the pub’s internal floor space at an increase of around 15 per cent on the existing area.
Comments on the application remain open until September 15th.
A previous application by the pub, earlier in the year, for five eco pods for tourism accommodation was rejected partly on the grounds that they would be within the 400m zone of Morden Bog and Hyde Heath sites of special scientific interest where tourism development is not allowed – a view supported by Wareham St Martin parish council and Natural England.
