THIS is the scene of the serious crash caused by a drink and drug driver who has been jailed for more than two years.

Emergency services were called to Waterloo Road, Corfe Mullen, following the late-night crash on July 20, 2020.

John Albert Bond, 25 and of Coldharbour, Wareham, was at the wheel of a Nissan X-Trail at excessive speed when he mounted the kerb, entered a ditch and crashed into a tree.

Front-seat passenger Oliver John George, 28, who had to be cut out from the car, sustained a fractured pelvis. He is stilling suffering chronic pain more than a year on.

Bond pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving whilst unfit through alcohol and driving whilst unfit through drugs, having initially claimed he was not the driver of the vehicle.

At a Bournemouth Crown Court hearing last week on Friday, August 27, Judge Robert Pawson said pictures of the crash scene “speak for themselves”.

The judge jailed Bond for two years and nine months and disqualified him from driving for two-and-a-half years, with the ban starting when he is released from prison.
