THOUSANDS of people have celebrated the return of the Christchurch Food Festival after a one year absence.
The popular festival which annually showcases the very best of locally produced food and drink has previously been held along the High Street in Christchurch. This year’s event, however, has been held on The Quomps by Christchurch Quay.
Guests were treated to free tastings and high quality products from a host of food stalls. Be it burgers or beer, health foods or halloumi, the festival had something for everyone.
Visitors from near and far descended on the event, which was not held in 2020 due to the pandemic.
65-year-old Angela Leyland said: "We've come down from the Kent area to be here today. We used to visit the festival most years when we had family living down here.
"They've since moved but we still really enjoy visiting for this event as many years as we can. After the year we've all had, this is just what we needed."
Local lad Jack Morris said: "It's mint. I haven't actually been to this before but I probably will from now on. It's got a good atmosphere, which I put down to the alcohol, but everyone's having a good time."
As well as food and drink, the festival featured a dance show and even a sheep show for the youngsters.
Busy stalls included jerky stand Biltong Boss, Chucklehead Cider and vegan stall Plant Hustler.
The event continues on Sunday and Monday.
