A NEW two-day music event takes place in Poole this weekend.

The 3 Acres Summer Gathering will be headlined by hit making singer songwriters Finley Quaye, James Walsh from Starsailor and Mark Morriss from the Bluetones.

Organisers of the event, which takes place on Ashley Cross Green on Saturday and Sunday, said they have been greatly encouraged by the reaction of local businesses and residents.

Event director Ben Dyas said: “Everyone has been so supportive – we’ve been delighted with how the event has been received.

"Ashley Cross is a lively, vibrant neighbourhood and the Green is a wonderful space that serves it really well.

“We know how much local residents enjoy community events and are so pleased they’ve recognised 3 Acres is about bringing quality live music to what is effectively the front garden that everyone shares.”

Along with the headliners, 3 Acres has assembled the best of the area’s local bands to support and has a full programme of children’s entertainment starring Britain’s Got Talent contestant Jay Rawlings, who has performed comedy magic and juggling for Sir Cliff Richard and Dame Joan Collins among thousands of others and in 2019 set a then new world record for balancing chairs on his chin.

Also appearing are the always popular Mad4Animals shows with animal handling and loads of photo opportunities, as well as the two Jamies – Jambo and Jigsaw – and a series of have-a-go circus workshops.

There’s plenty for grown up gatherers as well, with local food producers, a gin tent and well stocked bar with craft beer, ciders and real ales.

Weekend tickets cost £17 with day tickets at £10 (adults) and £5 (children) or £25 for a family of four, available at www.3acressummergathering.com.
