THE play area at Whitecliff Recreation Ground was closed again on Thursday, August 26, after some of the equipment was damaged.

It is the second time the play area has been shut over the summer, having been closed at the end of July amid reports of anti-social behaviour.

BCP Council has confirmed the apparatus that was damaged has since been fenced off with the rest of the play area now open and available to use.

A spokesperson for the council said: “Unfortunately there has been some recent damage to some of the play equipment at Whitecliff park and as a safety measure we had to cordon off the facility yesterday.

“We have now fenced off the damaged play equipment only, so the rest of the play area is open and accessible to the public."

Only one month ago the park was closed after the police confirmed they were investigating reports of anti-social driving, criminal damage, theft and assault at the same play area.

As a result the area required a deep clean before it could reopen again at the end of July.
