A MOTORCYCLIST was air lifted to hospital with serious injuries following a crash with a lorry at a Poole roundabout.

Emergency services were called to the Holes Bay North Roundabout on the A350 Holes Bay Road at around 8.17pm on Thursday, August 26.

Police received reports of a collision involving a black Harley Davidson motorcycle and a blue DAF lorry.

Officers attended, along with the fire and ambulance services. The rider of the motorcycle, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries. His family has been informed.

Road closures were put in place as the emergency services responded to the incident and an examination of the collision scene was carried out.

Officers investigating the serious injury collision are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.

Inspector Craig Tatton, of the traffic unit, said: “We are carrying out a full investigation to establish the circumstances of this collision and I would urge any witnesses to the incident, or the manner of driving of the vehicles involved prior to it, to please come forward if you have not already spoken to us.

“I would also ask that anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle please checks their footage for anything of relevance.

“Finally, I appreciate this incident led to the closure of a main route through Poole for some time. I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place. These were absolutely necessary to allow the emergency services to respond to the incident and for a detailed examination of the collision scene to be carried out.”
