A SECOND flat at a residential block in Poole has been shut down by courts after "enduring" anti-social behaviour – with both properties set to be relet to people on the council's waiting list.

Residents in Cinnamon Lane have faced issues for many months with tenants in two Poole Housing Partnership (PHP) properties causing issues.

Both 32 and 35 Cinnamon Lane received partial closure orders in November last year, which allowed the occupants to remain in their home.

However, as reported, ongoing issues led to a full closure order at number 35 on June 28, which banned everyone including the tenant from entering the property for a period of three months.

And now a similar court order has been secured in relation to number 32.

Donna Stenner, interim director of housing management at PHP, said both of these full closures came as "unfortunately neither tenant was prepared to engage meaningfully and the ASB associated with both properties quickly recommenced once those original orders ended".

"The making of these closure orders means that PHP can now rely on the absolute ground for possession, to formally recover possession of both properties," said Ms Stenner.

"The properties will then be relet to other eligible applicants from the council’s waiting list.

"The orders were made possible by good partnership working between PHP, the police and BCP Council.

"PHP would like to thank the local residents for their continued support.

"We hope this will reassure the community that we will always endeavour to find lasting and effective solutions to anti-social behaviour by taking appropriate action, utilising the most appropriate tools at our disposal."

The second full closure order was granted by Poole Magistrates' Court on August 5.

The sanctions allow local authorities and police to close down a premises.

The orders can last for up to three months before the council must go back to the court if they want to prolong the closure.

They are issued under section 80 and section 76 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act and section 76 Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act of 2014.
