A FOUR storey office and flats building could be built on the site of a former pub in Poole.

An application has been lodged to demolish the existing building in New Quay Road, which is described as a dwelling, and replace it with ‘port-related’ offices and nine self-contained flats, including a penthouse flat on the top floor.

The site used to be home to The Ferryman pub, which was known for the claim “last beer before France” sitting close to the port entrance.

The flats would be all one-bed apart from a single two-bed unit with the development allowing space for eight cars, an increase of two on the existing site layout.

The proposed offices within the modern building would be 95 square metres, according to the application to BCP Council from OOTA Property Limited.

Planning agents, in the application papers, claim that the nature of the area has been changed in recent years with the introduction of more modern, taller, buildings to maximise the use of sites which can carry redevelopment.

Residents have until September 20 to make comments on the application,

In 2019, the charter division of Sunseeker had proposals for a three-storey block of flats and office space on the site refused by BCP Council.
