A POSTBOX in Poole has been given a lick of paint in what is thought to be a tribute to a Dorset Olympian.
The postbox in Elgin Road, Poole has been painted gold after Hannah Mills became the most decorated female Olympic sailor ever at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Mills was awarded gold in the women's 470 class at Tokyo 2020, retaining her Olympic title.
She was partnered with Eilidh McIntyre and the duo took Team GB's third sailing gold medal of the Games.
In addition to her remarkable achievement, Mills was a flagbearer for Team GB at the Games' opening ceremony.
She was the first female British sailor to carry the Union flag at an Olympics.
The painting of this Poole postbox comes nine years after a Hampshire postbox was painted gold.
One of Lymington’s post boxes was painted gold in honour of Olympic hero Sir Ben Ainslie in 2012, who is the winner of four gold medals and a silver.
Sir Ben used to live in Lymington but now resides on the Isle of Wight.
Do you know who painted the Poole postbox?
