A FORMER SAS sergeant from Poole is to complete ‘the world’s worst ever book signing tour’ on Friday after a 4,000-mile cycle.

Ray Carole, 42, has been peddling a collapsible bicycle that has seen him travel around Britain and up the Three Peaks.

Ray aims to complete his trek on Friday morning at Branksome Chine.

He is planning to do the final 200 miles in 24 hours having left Plymouth on Thursday morning.

In addition to promoting his debut novel, The Clinic, Ray has been raising money for the Bowra Foundation – which aims to inspire resilience among people suffering from neurological disorders.

Ray, who at 22 was the youngest member of the SAS when he passed selection, said: “I have met lots of people during the tour and have done some book signings and everyone has been very supportive.

“At first I was just going to do England and Wales, but then I added Scotland which I thought was plenty.

“But my girlfriend, Dionne, thought I was too soft and 4,000 miles wasn’t tough enough – so I said I’d do the Three Peaks Challenge as well.

“My body is fine but the collapsible bike is creaking and the back tyre is a bit bald.”
