IN need of something to keep you busy and entertained this weekend in Dorset? If so you’re in luck with plenty of events and activities taking place across the county to give you something to do.

This weekend there are loads of choices in the way of events and the Daily Echo has compiled a list of some of them taking place.

Film and food festival

Four days of outdoor cinema, street food, live comedy and plenty of drinks comes to Bournemouth this weekend. The event started on Thursday and will screen a whole selection of big screen classics across the weekend including hit singalong The Greatest Showman on Friday night at 6pm. You can also catch The Lion King, Grease, Cool Runnings and Joker at various screening times at Littledown this weekend.

Bourne Free

Bournemouth Echo: The 2019 Bourne Free Pride Festival parade makes its way through Bournemouth.

Taking place over the course of Friday and Saturday Bournemouth’s pride festival is back, despite cancellations elsewhere. On Friday there will be a family fun event in the Triangle between 5pm and 9pm, which has already sold out. On Saturday a walking parade will depart Meyrick Park at around midday heading to the Triangle. Once it arrives there will be a variety of live entertainment until 10pm at this over 18’s ticketed event.

Purbeck valley folk festival

This weekend you can catch the Purbeck Valley Folk Festival between Friday and Sunday offering plenty to do for all varieties of ages. The festival features a range of folk acts playing music across five stages as well as workshops, craft areas and plenty of other stalls. Held at the Purbeck Valley Farm, gates open at 10am with music starting at midday and ending at midnight.

Garry J Foley's Summer Festival Open Air Legends Show

On Saturday at Magna Road in Wimborne Garry J Foley’s Legends Summer concert comes to town featuring a live Elvis show experience and an ABBA tribute act. The event kicks off at 5pm Saturday at the Hamworthy Club with music on-going until midnight. Tickets start from £25.

Canford Summer Fair

Canford summer fair returns for a two day event this weekend in the grounds of Canford School. Local artists will entertain crowds while children can enjoy face-painting or the circus workshop. There will be plenty of crafts, a falconry display, blacksmith demonstrations and plenty of food stalls. The event opens at 10am and ends at 5pm both days.

Bournemouth Fireworks

Bournemouth’s summer fireworks display is a great way to start the weekend with their weekly shows throughout August. The dazzling display always draws a big crowd around Pier Approach and will no doubt do so again this Friday as the display gets underway at 10pm.

Beach soccer fest

Over the course of Friday, Saturday and Sunday the international beach soccer (football) festival offers a packed weekend of sports on Bournemouth Beach at East Cliff. A variety of youth, men's and women's tournaments take place over the three days which opens at 9am and closes at 9pm every day. Also on offer is food, music, dance and plenty of stalls which is all free to go down and visit.
