In October 1983, the Government confirmed that Seldown Boys School, pictured here, and Ashley Cross Girls Schools in Poole would be replaced by new school in Canford Heath.
The news dismayed parents who were lobbying for the two schools to remain open, unfortunately the schools closed, and Ashdown School opened in July 1989.
