SOUTHBOURNE Coastguards were called to two incidents on Bournemouth beach on Saturday within a matter of minutes.

At 6.15pm on August 14, the coastguards received reports of an unconscious woman on the beach near East Cliff Lift.

After working with ambulance crews to help the casualty, crew were released to help two teenage men in difficulty further down the beach near Bournemouth Pier at 7pm.

This was found to be a false alarm, and crew member stood down shortly afterward sand returned to the stations.

A spokesman from Southbourne Coastguards said: “Tasked at 6.15pm by the joint rescue coordination centre to reports of an unconscious female on the beach near to the East Cliff Lift, Bournemouth.

“Once on scene we liaised with the first informant and assessed the now conscious casualty.

“As a precaution a South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust ambulance crew that arrived and checked her over and we were released for an immediate incident.

“We received an immediate tasking by the joint rescue coordination centre to reports of two teenage males in difficulties in the sea to the East of Bournemouth Pier.

“Once on scene we liaised with the first informant who had attempted to rescue them only to find it to be a false alarm.”
