A LARGE car park has been closed for the second day in a row as tourists flock to Swanage.

Main Beach car park in Swanage, which has a capacity of around 300 spaces, was closed before 12pm today (Sunday, August 15) with 'limited parking' at other car parks in the area.

Routes into the town, including A35 and A31 have also seen busy traffic throughout the morning.

A spokesman for Dorset Council after 12pm today: "Swanage - Main Beach car park is closed.

"Limited parking in other car parks in the area at this time."

It comes after the large car park was closed after 11am yesterday (Saturday, August 14) as daytrippers visited Swanage.

At the time, Dorset Council has urged patience from motorists and to allow extra time if travelling on the A31 and A35.

A spokesman for Dorset Council said yesterday: "The car park at Main Beach in Swanage is currently closed. Other car parks in the area are already busy and traffic is building up around the town.

"Other busy areas today include the A35 and A31. Please allow extra time if you're travelling on those routes."
