EMERGENCY services rushed to reports of an unconscious person in the sea at Branksome Chine.

Whilst out training on Wednesday evening, RNLI Mudeford was tasked to the scene by the coastguard.

This is not normally an area covered by RNLI Mudeford, but due to the boat already being at sea it was deemed they would be the first RNLI resource on scene. RNLI Poole were also tasked to assist on the joint shout.

When RNLI Mudeford arrived on scene the casualty has been pulled from the water by people on the beach and was being looked after by the ambulance service.

The RNLI Mudeford helm beached the bow of the ‘Mudeford Servant’ onto the shore to speak with the people on the beach. The helm ascertained that it was believed the casualty was a lone swimmer and there were no other casualties in the water.

The volunteer crew commenced a shoreline search to the east of Branksome Chine and were joined by RNLI Poole who completed a shoreline search to the west.

When both crews were confident there were no other persons in the water, they were stood down by the Coastguard and returned to base.

The casualty was conscious in the back of the ambulance.
