THE number of new Covid cases recorded across Dorset in the latest 24-hour period is 482, government figures show.

Department of Health and Social Care statistics show 298 new cases across the BCP Council area up to 4pm on Wednesday, August 11.

This brings the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic in BCP to 37,168.

Meanwhile, 184 new cases were recorded in the Dorset Council area during the same 24-hour period.

Since March, last year, 18,045 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the Dorset Council area.

The number of cases in the BCP area over the latest rolling seven-day period is 1,926, with a rate of 485.2 per 100,000 people. In Dorset 1,152 cases have been confirmed in the last past seven days. The case rate is 303.3 per 100,000.

In the New Forest there were 63 new cases recorded in latest 24-hour period.

The total in the district since the pandemic started is 9,269.

The rolling seven-day period for the New Forest is 488 cases, with a case rate is 271.6.
