POLICE and coastguard crews were called after a Poole man got into "difficulties" at a local beauty spot last night.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said that they received a report at 6.35pm on Tuesday in which concern was raised over the welfare of a man seen at Hengistbury Head.
Southbourne coastguard were notified at 7.42pm by the joint rescue coordination centre, along with Lymington Coastguard and Dorset Police to the man described as "possibly in difficulties at Hengistbury Head".
The man from Poole was soon located and taken to safety at around 8pm. He was given appropriate care.
