SOUTHBOURNE coastguard were called to two separate missing people incidents in just over an hour on Tuesday afternoon.

The service was tasked at 1.07pm by joint rescue coordination to search for two missing children and their grandmother along the beach near Highcliffe Castle.

Whilst en route, information came through that the family had been located safe and well. With no further coastguard assistance required, the service stood down and returned to the station.

Just over an hour later at 2.34pm, the joint rescue coordination again tasked the coastguard to assist the search for an eight-year-old boy who had gone missing near Bournemouth Pier. 

The boy was last seen near the water's edge. 

While en route the news came through that the child had been found safe and well and no further coastguard assistance was required. The team returned to the station.
