COURIER service DPD is currently experiencing delays in some parts of Dorset.

The national firm has issued an apology to any customers who have experienced a slower service than usual.

DPD said an "unusual spike in demand" had caused a temporary backlog, with the issue understood to impacting the Ferndown depot.

A spokesperson for DPD said: "We deliver over 300 million parcels every year and work extremely hard to ensure deliveries are made on time.

"Very occasionally there can be brief delays, as in this instance caused by an unusual spike in demand which caused a temporary backlog.

"If we have the shopper’s details we will always advise them of any delay and have done so on this occasion.

"We apologise to those customers affected and believe our excellent service will be back to normal by Thursday, August 12."
