A MAN has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after he assaulted a police officer at an escape room.

Luke Thomas, 23 and of Commercial Road, Bournemouth, admitted a charge of assaulting an emergency worker PC Christopher Hartley by beating him.

A hearing was Poole Magistrates' Court on July 27 was told this offence related to an incident at The Escape Room in The Triangle area of Bournemouth on May 9.

Dorset Police reported that they were called to assist the ambulance service inside the premises.

Thomas also pleaded guilty to possessing 0.5 grams of cannabis at Bournemouth Custody on May 9 and failing to surrender to custody at Poole Magistrates' Court on June 11, having been released on bail on May 10.

He was handed a 12-month community order by magistrates, with a requirement to complete 100 hours of unpaid work.

The defendant was also ordered to pay £50 compensation, £95 surcharge and £100 costs.
