AN ELDERLY woman has died after she was seriously injured in a car crash.

Dorset Police received a report at 3.04pm on July 29 of a collision on the A31 at Sturminster Marshall involving a blue Honda Civic estate and a blue and green Ford Transit van.

Officers attended, along with the ambulance service, and the fire service also assisted with removing two women from the Honda. Both were taken to Dorset County Hospital for treatment.

A woman aged in her 90s sustained serious injuries and very sadly died in hospital on the evening of July 30. Her family has been informed.

The other woman, aged in her 50s, sustained injuries that were not believed to be serious.

The driver of the Ford, a man aged in his 60s, was taken to Poole Hospital for treatment to injuries that were not believed to be serious.

Sergeant Rhys Griffiths, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the woman who died at this difficult time.

“We are continuing our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I would again appeal to any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam to please contact us if you have not already spoken to police.”
