WESTBOURNE will be alive with entertainment for the whole family, including live music, during Jive n Vibe week (August 2-8, 2021).

This seven-day summer event has been organised by volunteers from the Westbourne Business Association, led by Dawn McLachlan, with support from Coastal BID.

At the beginning of the week, Westbourne will host family-friendly street entertainers, mime artists and singers. There will be balloon modelling and face painting and a caricaturist will be there along with special guests Spiderman, Mickey Mouse, Bella from Frozen and a Walkabout Chimp. The children’s entertainment will continue at Landseer Road on Sunday.

Jive n Vibe week will end with a free two-day weekend music festival showcasing local singers and bands. The musicians will perform at the western end of Poole Road, which will be closed to traffic between the junction with Seamoor Road and the County Gates Gyratory. Buses and taxis will be diverted elsewhere on Saturday and Sunday.

One of the singers, Kelly Lorraine will be performing hits from right across the decades including Fleetwood Mac and Adele, on Saturday afternoon.

She says: “I’m really looking forward to being on stage in the heart of Westbourne now live music is allowed again and I know it’s going to be a fantastic weekend."

Organiser Dawn McLachlan says: “Everyone is very excited about Jive n Vibe week, we are planning to make it an annual event and hope it will put our village on the map. Westbourne is a very special place, we have many unique shops and lots of great places where you can eat and drink. It deserves its own summer celebration, now Covid restrictions are easing.”

Westbourne Business Association hopes Jive n Vibe week will both entertain residents and encourage holidaymakers and people from elsewhere in Dorset to visit.

To assist the organisers, it would be appreciated if people planning to be at the music festival on Saturday and/or Sunday could register for free tickets on Eventbrite. Search for Jive n Vibe.
