A PILOT was unharmed after his helicopter crashed into a field in Dorset.
Firefighters from Poole Fire Station and Blandford Fire Station were called to a report of a light aircraft crash in the Holton Heath area, near Wareham today (Thursday, July 15).
Crews upon arrival saw the helicopter had crashed into the ground and sustained serious damage.
Photos from the scene show the aircraft was on its side and damaged the ground.
The pilot, who was able to exit the aircraft, was uninjured in the crash, the fire service say.
A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Earlier today crews from Poole Fire Station and Blandford Fire Station were called to a light aircraft crash in the Holton Heath area.
"On arrival, crews found a helicopter had crash landed on private land.
"The cause is not yet known but thankfully the pilot managed to get out by himself and was uninjured!
