POLICE were called to three crashes on the A338 this morning, including a three-vehicle collision which closed the northbound carriageway.

The road was closed near Blackwater Junction after a crash shortly before 7.30am on Monday morning.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “We received a report at 7.29am of a three-vehicle collision on the northbound carriageway of the A338 Spur Road near to the Blackwater Junction.

“Officers attended, along with the ambulance service, and road closures were put in place as the emergency services dealt with the incident.

“One man was treated for injuries that were not believed to be serious and recovery of the vehicles was arranged.

“The road was reopened at around 9.30am.”

There were also two crashes before 7am, one on the northbound carriageway and one on the southbound carriageway.

The spokesperson added: “We received a report at 6.18am of a single vehicle collision on the southbound carriageway of the A338 Spur Road, near to the Ashley Heath Roundabout.

“There were no reports of any serious injuries. A temporary lane closure was put in place as the vehicle was recovered and one woman was taken to hospital as a precaution.

“We received a report at 6.32am of a single vehicle collision on the northbound carriageway of the A338 Spur Road between the Blackwater Junction and the Ashley Heath Roundabout.

“There were no reports of any injuries and the vehicle was not blocking the road. Recovery for the vehicle was arranged.”
