MORE than 4,000 crimes were reported across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole in May as lockdown restrictions were eased.

According to the latest figures from police.uk there were a total of 4,042 crimes reported across the conurbation to Dorset Police - up slightly from 3,836 in April.

The highest rate of crime within the entire conurbation falls under anti-social behaviour for which there were 1,223 incidents reported to the police.

The second most reported crime was violence and sexual offences with 1,167 - up from 1,071 in April.

Across the conurbation the third highest crime was criminal damage and arson which received 365 reports.

Vehicle crime (259), other theft (226) and public order (225) offences all received similar rates of reports throughout May in BCP.

The lowest reported crimes were theft from a person (24), robbery (21) and other crime (20).

Bournemouth saw a total of 2,428 reports, Christchurch received 336 and Poole had 1,260 crimes reported in May.
