THE roadworks which are set to close Blandford Road in Poole will be suspended this weekend.

SSE confirmed the roadworks would be suspended, meaning the road will remain open.

However, Morebus said it would be sticking to its revised timetable over the weekend.

A spokesperson for Morebus said: “At 3.15pm on Friday, July 2, SSE announced they would reopen the road and leave it open until Monday morning.

“We unfortunately cannot revert to our usual services without notice so we will continue with our temporary timetable over the weekend as per all our customer communications, even though Blandford Road will now be open.

“We are very disappointed not to be serving Hamworthy in a more logical fashion but this last minute change has come too late for us to notify our drivers and update our systems.”

As reported, Blandford Road will be closed in both directions between Rigler Road and Ashmore Avenue due to mains cable works by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), until Saturday, July 24.

The closure means there will be no direct access between Poole town centre and Hamworthy across either the Twin Sails Bridge or Poole Lifting Bridge.

There will a further one-way closure between Blandford Close and Tucker’s Lane from Monday, July 26, to Friday, August 20, with north west access towards Upton only.
