NEARLY 190 Covid cases were recorded across Dorset in the last 24 hours, latest figures have revealed.

The government’s daily update showed 186 cases were confirmed across the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Friday.

The BCP Council area recorded 135 new cases, taking its total since the start of the pandemic to 27,435.

Meanwhile, the Dorset Council area recorded 51 new cases, taking the total to 12,772.

In the seven days leading up to June 26, the latest rolling seven-day period, 620 cases were confirmed in BCP, giving a rolling infection rate of 156.8 per 100,000 people.

During the same time frame, 51 cases were recorded in the Dorset Council area, giving a rolling rate of 73.4 per 100,000

Elsewhere, 27 new cases were recorded in the New Forest, taking the total to 6,581.

The rolling rate stood at 79.4 per 100,000 after 143 cases were confirmed in a week.
