A MAN needed medical treatment after being bitten by a dog as he walked along a Bournemouth road.

The victim, a local man in his 50s, was walking past a woman on Stoke Wood Road who had two small black and grey terrier dogs.

As he walked past one of the dogs lunged at him, biting him on the calf.

He suffered a puncture wound that did require medical treatment.

Now police are working to identify the woman, who is described as in her late 50s or early 60s, of large build with shoulder length grey and blonde hair.

She also walked with an aluminium walking stick.

Police Constable Jennie Sykes-Martin, of Dorset Police, said: “The victim did not get contact details for the woman and I am now carrying out enquiries to try and identify her.

"I would ask anyone who witnessed what happened or recognises the woman from the description given to please come forward.”

The incident unfolded around 6.30pm on Wednesday, June 23.
