RESIDENTS suffered a "very frightening" experience when their front door was kicked off its hinges.

Dorset Police have launched an investigation into the criminal damage incident, which saw the culprit run off from the scene.

The force said that at around 11.45pm on Wednesday, June 23, a group of people were outside an address in Ten Acres, Shaftesbury when one of them banged on the door before running off.

A short time later just after midnight on Thursday, June 24, it is reported that someone kicked the front door of the property causing it to fall from its hinges, before again running off.

Nothing was stolen from inside the address.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Police Constable Nick May, of North Dorset police, said: “This must have been a very frightening incident for the residents of the property.

“I am appealing to anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity around the relevant time to please get in contact.

“I would also urge residents in the area to please check their home CCTV systems for any relevant footage that may assist my enquiries.”
