AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a Bournemouth insolvency solicitor.

Damon James Watt, 44, died at a friend's home in Corhampton Road, Bournemouth, on April 27.

During a short Dorset Coroner's Court hearing at Bournemouth Town Hall on June 17, coroner's officer Philippa Morgan said Mr Watt, of Clarence Park Road, had been out drinking with friends.

She said he returned to a friend's home where they continued to drink and listen to music into the early hours.

"When the music was turned off, his friends noticed he was silent and unresponsive so called for an ambulance," said Ms Morgan.

"Paramedics attended and confirmed death. Police attended and confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances."

A post-mortem examination provided a provisional medical cause of death as cocaine toxicity, alcohol intoxication, ischemic heart disease and idiopathic left ventricular hypertrophy.

Contributing factors of micronodular cirrhosis, diabetes mellitus and amphetamine toxicity were listed by the doctor who conducted the post-mortem.

Assistant coroner for Dorset Brendan Allen requested statements from Mr Watt's family, his GP and police in relation to their investigation.

The inquest was adjourned, with a review hearing due to take place on November 8.
