A BOURNEMOUTH man is shaving off his beard this week to raise money for a charity close to his heart.

Queen's Park resident Russ Hoy, 52, will be braving the shave on Friday, June 25 in the Richmond Arms pub in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Owner of Nu-Vo hair and beauty in Springbourne, Donna will be shaving Russ' beard.

Russ said: "I’ve been growing the beard for 10 months during lockdown. A few friends and my sister Mel (who doesn't like my beard) have been trying to get me to shave it off for a while so thought I'd raise a few quid for Macmillan Cancer Support.

"They are my chosen charity as they have helped friends and family in the past and my local do a lot for them."

Russ is keen to raise lots of funds for the charity and has already surpassed his target.

He said: "I started trying to raise £500 but I have increased it £750. I’m currently at £846 which I’m very happy with, although any more would be nice."
