I HAVE lived in Poole for all 68 years of my life and for most of those years have had a beach hut at Sandbanks.
In the “good old days”, there was always a policeman at the Haven Road/Shore Road junction turning traffic from Sandbanks Road left up Haven Road and traffic coming down Haven Road right back towards Evening Hill, thus preventing gridlock on the peninsula.
In addition, there was a second policeman at the car park roundabout turning traffic around there when necessary. This simple system worked very well.
Is it too much to hope that a similar plan could be implemented during busy weekends and school holidays when the weather is forecast to be fine?
